Discovery flight · Tampa Executive Airport
Fly the plane
on day one.
You've looked up at every plane that's ever flown over. Now it's your turn. A discovery flight is your first flying lesson, and you're the one at the controls. No experience needed.
The experience
How your discovery flight goes
From handshake to landing in about 90 minutes. I'm right next to you the whole time.
- 1
Meet and brief
We'll sit down on the ground and talk through the flight, how the controls work and what you want to try. Ask anything.
- 2
Preflight together
We'll walk around the Cessna 172 and check it over, just like every pilot does before every flight.
- 3
Take off
Headset on, engine running. We'll taxi out together and lift off from Tampa Executive.
- 4
You fly
The controls are yours. Try turns, climbs and descents over the Tampa Bay area. Your new office has a better view.
- 5
Land and debrief
Back on the ground, we'll talk about how it felt and what training could look like for you. No pressure.
A little nervous? Good.
It means you're taking it seriously. Every pilot started right where you are. Here's what you can count on.
You're never alone up there
Your flight instructor sits right beside you with a full set of controls, ready to help at any moment.
No experience needed
You don't need to know anything about airplanes. That's what the briefing is for.
Weather comes first
If conditions aren't right, we'll reschedule at no charge. That's the job done right.
No medical to start
You don't need an FAA medical certificate for a discovery flight. You'll need one before you fly solo.

Safety comes first. If the weather isn't right, we'll reschedule at no charge.
What happens after the flight?+
Whatever you want. If you're hooked, we'll talk through a training plan that fits your schedule and budget. If you just wanted the experience, that's great too.
How much does full training cost?+
Private Pilot training typically runs $16,500 to $19,500, paid as you fly. Your total depends mostly on how often you fly.
